fuel cell

I am bagging my 88 b2200 and want to put a fuel cell in the bed. What should I go with? I was looking a summit and they have some fuel cells with 0-90 ohm senders. Will this work on my truck? I have hurd that they run backwards. Or how about a ford sending unit? If no then what size cell can I get to put my factory sending unit in. What did you guys use?

the OLD ford is like 80-12 or something similar so it would show empty a little early.

Get hold of jim (madlowmazda) on here, he put his stock sending unit in a fuel cell and can tell you the ins and outs.

I just cut a new hole in the top of my fuel cell and plopped in the mazda sending unit. I had to shorten the sending unit by about 1/2 inch for my particular unit. I just chopped it and rewelded it, then used some gas tank liner paint to paint it up so it wouldn't rust or corrode. My truck is fuel injected, so the in tank pump in the fuel cell works teriffic. You can do the smae thing with a carb mazda with the fuel pump on the side of the head, just put your whole sending unit into the tank- stock mazda fuel gauge is back!

Ok, but what cell did you use to make sure that the top is big enought to put the factory one in there. I measured the factory gas tank to be about 11-12" in depth.

I think mine is from Jeg's, it's their aluminum 12 gallon and it came with the GM senser in it with a sump and foam inside. With the senser- it has a nice place in the tank where it is baffled with no foam for the sneder- makes a perfect location for a drop in sending unit. I just made the hole for the GM sending unit bigger- and walla!

Railin22, I am running a RCI 15gal Aluminum with the GM Sending Unit but I am running all aftermarket gauges so my Fuel Level is a GM Guage! But, the cell was only 'round $185 shipped....it didn't come with foam, so I purchased that seperate!
