I live in Texas so I know what is at the shows down here as well as alot of others.
Going to Reso last year was one of the best experiences I have ever had at a show. The quality of the good rides at the show was not better or worse in any way. There were far less vehicles showing that were the types that most people walk right past like they are invisible because they are a waste of time to look at. The show envireonment itself is what made me want to go back, as I am this year. I plan to make it out to the forbidden and freaks shows next year as well.
Back to the trucks...
I have noticed more vehicles built in Cali sticking around for a few years, this shows quality. Alot of trucks seem to be built and dissapear after one season or less. Being able to keep a truck looking good for a long period of time really impresses me because it is pretty easy to do a build that stays in great shape for a couple months.
It seems as though alot of the trucks that have been built lately do not stick around long enough to show that they were built correctly. Having more shows like Havoc would bring more of the stored away cover trucks as well as other well known trucks out of hiding to show thier condition after the years.
In the TX -vs- Cali deal with trucks I would have to keep them about even. Until more southern built rides stick around for a few years I cannot put my home state above any other.
When it comes to shops, I have to lean toward Texas because I have the ability to go to the local shops to check on thier ongoing builds and see the trucks that they produce. Knowing some of the fabricators I do keeps me assured that we will continue to have alot of really nice vehicles coming out of the Texas state.
Hopefully when mine comes out of hiding from the winter it will really change the way people view cars.
