I have a 90 ford ranger and we were taking the radio out the other day and the power wire arc'd and it blew a fuse(im guessing) so i go to look for a fuse for the radio in the fuse panel and the spot where the radio fuse is suppost to be there is no fuse there and nowhere to put a fuse, ive checked all the other fuses and everything seems fine, where would i find this fuse at?

i have the radio hooked up now thru another fuse in the panel now but it isnt like it should be...anyone know how i can find out how to make my original power wire work? im lost

you should have 2 wires that give of power, 1 constant, and 1 switched, both should be ran to the driver side cab inside. use a digital ohm meter on ohms reading. if the fuse is good the meter will beep.

dont use an ohms setting for power! It will fuck the meter up. what you want to do is set the meter on Continuity, basically it beeps if the path between the 2 prongs is connected. Check all of your fuses not just the radio fuse. If its a constant wire you might notice the horn or dome light or clock isnt working. If you have any other ?s hit me up!

worse comes to worse run a new fused wire from your battery through a grommet in the firewall to your radio for power. That should solve your prob if you cant find a blown fuse under your hood or in you cab's fuse box. Remember to use 20 V DC setting to measure the voltage correctly on your meter. By the way continuity is an ok idea but I would stick to that setting only when testing to see if your speakers are grounding out, which by what you have posted doesen't seem to be your prob.
