I WANT TO USE AIR STRUTS ON MY 97 ACCORD..BUT I CANT FIND A PORT SIZE BIGGER THAN 1/4" WHATS A GOOD BRAND TO GO WITH, AND WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES TO USING BOLT ON AIR STRUTS? THANKS FOR THE HELP, SHAWN

They're actually designed for automotive use, where as air cylinders are not. Struts will ride better. Struts generally will not get as low without modification.

More and more dealers are not carrying air cylinders anymore.

I have airstruts on the front of my camaro. I love them. They ride better than any other air ride equipped vehicle that I have been in. Mine are from Chassis Tech. I get plenty of lift with them. When I had 20s on my car it layed body kit, with no modifications. Right now I am sitting about 2in off the ground but the 22s are sitting on the fender wells. So that has nothing to do with the air struts their self. Mine have 3/8" ports and 1/2" was avaiable, but I didn't want it that fast.

Hey man sorry I just got your IM you sent! I just sold the air struts off the rear of my car. I am gonna use cylinders but its gonna be a total custom cantiliever setup wit shocks etc. They ride ok. for a bolt on system they are really good. With my front body kit bumper on it will lay on the ground. I think Im gonna ditch the body kit though and do 20's all the way around so I might as well go ahead and make all custom stuff.As far as the 1/4" port I believe thats what my easystreet stuff was. I ran 3/8" elec. valves and 1/2" Lines It was perfect as far as how fast it was for somethin that you will be driving a fair amount!

i put the easystreets in my buddys 93 vigor.
it was easy, did the whole setup in two afternoons and it is 1" off the rockers w/18s.
only bad thing is he is on his second set of struts after bending the shock shafts going up and down to fast.

Also on the air struts it doesnt take much to bust the shock inside of it. Mine would pop and rattle when you hit a bump!

stay away from chassis tech struts. i have seen more broken strut and pissed off customers then happy customers. the camaro has alot more room for the bag. it also has an upper control arm and that helps extend the life of the air strut. mcpherson struts have alot of side pressure to deal with and that is why they break. chassis tech struts are cheap and you get what THEY pay for. your accord has very little room for the bags that they use. the struts are going to be very short to get as much drop as possible. on the down side, the bag will over extend the strut, and cause it to break.

anyone that bought struts from chassis tech when they first started making them, they got the good stuff. those are modified monroe or gabriel struts. those can handle the stress. they just have a different type of spring, air instead of coil.
