Worse case scenario, the gasket mounting surface is not even and would have to be trued back up. Very important when cleaning an aluminum gasket surface, to use the proper gasket cleaner. Basic scotch pads are too abrasive as is sand paper. Simple fixes would be making sure the gasket surface is completely clean and the head bolted back down with the proper torque specs and bolt sequence.

yah what he said, if your engine has ever been overheated theres a good chance that you warped that head. Or if its been severely over heated the deck of the block could be warped.

IF you use the felpro gaskets, make sure to use copper coat. What that does is seals on both sides. I used it to rebuild drag racing motors. I use copper head gaskets on my pro mod motor but do not like to use them on street motors. You should make your tourque pattern in a circle. Start in the middle and go right then up then left back done to middle. What size motor is it?
