Anyone switched to an after market automatic shifter in their b2200??

I don't want to use the ugly stock one, but im not sure which after market one's will work?

any aftermarket shifter with a cable can be made to work but you will have to do some minor fabricating depending on the linkage.

im guessing not to many people have done this?

I've seen a few but most people have the 5-speeds. I had one that I used a center console and shifter out of a vega in and it wasn't hard to make work but sometimes you'd have to slam it in park to get it to actually go into park.

anyone know anything about the pushbutton shifter in the blue blazer on the cover of last months MT?

^^^ NOT SURE ^^^ BUT IT'S A VERY NICE TOUCH TO A CUSTOM VEHICLE OF ANY SORT !!

yeah I never messed with it, but there is nothing that is beyond ambition, and your truck already tells me you can do it, so just make it work!

LOL... thanks Russ.

Switching to manual would probably be an alright idea too I guess... just not sure how different if at all the tranny's are? (would my tranny x-member need to be moved?)

Devyn, that push button one is a pretty pricey unit from what i've seen... $1000+ i think.

It usues an actuator to change the gears. Pretty nifty thing, but its outta my price range thats for sure.

Call Lokar Corey. Lol, its worth a shot. They might make something that could be adapted. If they have something close, get on eBay and get the knockoff version for like half the price.

not a bad idea there Seth!

There are some nice shifters out there that I'd really like to use... but i've never messed around with swapping shifters and stuff before... so its all new to me.

All I know is the factory auto shifter is ugly as hell.
