We put AIM drop spindles on my buddie S-10 and now almost every wheel we try to put on it hits the tie rod end. the only wheels that dont are the factory 14s! The tie rods are installed exactly like they were on the stock spindle. Any ideas on what may be wrong?

i had this prob on my buddies 03 s-10 w/ belltechs. put a .25" spacer on and it should clear everything up for ya.

I would like to do it without running a spacer. He would like to run an 18 inch wheel.

its a wheel offset problem. if a spacer works, then find a wheel with less offset.

A spacer is your best bet. It's not like running an adapter (very bad news). It'll give you about a 1/4". If you need more than that, it's time to go wheel shopping for a different offset.

^^^ That's not it. It is a wheel offset problem, as stated above. The tie rod moves in conjunction with the wheel as the steering is turned, a stop will not fix that.

Get the correct wheels and you'll be fine.

what offset does he need? weve tried +15 and they still hit. the only thing that hasnt hit is a 0 offset but they wont tuck.

what size wheel is he running? alot of times you need bigger wheels with spindles.

i've got belltech spindles on my truck and have laid it out on 14's and now my stocker 15's and had 20's on it for mockup, none of them hit!

AIM drop spindles

there you go.

but seriously though, make sure you have them installed correctly. I had AIM spindles on the Mazda and the tie rods hit 16's until I ground on the tie rod threads (that were sticking through the castle nut) a little. It was the after market tie rods I had used, they had a longer threaded part than stock and thats what was hitting.

If you are hitting the end of the tie rod, sorry to hear it.
