will heads from an older 350 (84 ish) fit on a newer motor (early 90s)?

I think they would as long as the motor isn't a Vortec...

yes they will fit the block. you will need to use the old style intake as well, or redrill the newer style intake. the intake bolts are all in the same locations, however the 4 center bolts (2 on each side) are at a different angle.

Be prepared for you Check Engine Light to cycle on and off. I have the same setup. Older heads, 2.02/1.60 off of a '74 block, put into a '93 Silverado. Everything (all sensors) changed. If it idles for a few minutes the CEL will cycle on. I don't think the older style heads are 100% compatable with all of the electronics. Mt advice would be to use the newer style heads and have them reworked. Also with doing that, you don't have to redrill the intake to fit the old style heads. And using the old style intake will let you also have compatability issues with the computer. The newer style is designed for economy plus performance, mismatching will hinder one or the other if not both. I have been down every route with my '93 and after about 6 months pretty much got the bugs worked out but still not completely. What you fail to mention is the year that it is going into. For me, '93 is a bastard year with everything switching over to computer control.
