I did one about 4 or 5 years ago on a dakota same body style and all we did was section the xmember in the front and made new tranny xmember and it layed out no pro with 20s when they first came out and not everyone had them and we layed it out with stock control arms too.

^^^^ Did you do anything with the steering rack? Section the oil pan at all? What else was involved other then sectioning the crossmember.

Alright im thankful for all the help but did anyone have the 318 in there truck when they did it because i found the problem. My upper control arm is hitting my exsaust(sp) manifold guess i need uppers unless theres another way

Not sure how much its hanging up by but you can eighter make a manifold which would be my choice or you can notch the control arm but make sure its fully welded up for strength.

I have the 318. Yea my passenger side header is crushed from my control arm also. Well its not crushed but not they way it was when I bought them. Only fix is new uppers or custom header that i know of. If you still have factory manifolds I think there is a heat shield you could take off. May help a little. Maybe not.

yeh i got the heat shield off but i didnt help much but every little bit counts. Im about 2 1/2 to 3in at the most from laying out but i dont know how much i would have to take out of the control arm to get that. its only hitting toward the front of the manifold. One question has anyone seen any hugger headers made for these trucks. Frind of mine said to check up on this and i cant find them for a 318 but everyone has them for a 350. Yet another reason building dodges suck.

i z'd my frame so nothing would drag and i wouldnt have to change a whole lot of stuff and it lays flat but i did have to make a new tranny cross member and still using stock controll arms
