Im in the midst of sfbd my astro.Ive got the front figured out.On the rear I want a simple ,easy and reliable setup that allows for lots of lift.Im narrowing the frame and the rear end for 24's.I was thinking of a reverse triangulted.Straight bars forward, tri bars towards the rear and the bags mounted on the tri bars.Is this a bad idea? What about a fully reverse system?I will cut whatever needs be.Any ideas guys?
Why not go full forward if you are going this far. Reverse triangulated isnt technically sound. The main reason why I wouldnt do it is its action under braking. Just think of what happens to a car or truck when you hit the brakes. It wants to squat the front down and lift the rear, as the rear tires bite, the reverse system is going to want to lift the rear even more and start to pull the driveshaft out a it lifts. NOT GOOD.
The only reason I wanted to go reverse was that I wanted to save as much of the floor as possible in front of the axle.I figure I will have a high crossmember for the bag mounts. But it sounds like a bad idea.I will probably go full forward triangulated then.Being as there will be a driveshaft tunnel anyways ,Ill put the crossmember for the bags in the front I guess.Any more ideas or advice would be helpful guys
