ok im dropping the motor on my toyota and ive sectioned the pan..but its going to hit the steering in the front now....can i make a drop down in the steering link? i have no idea what its made of..but can i just have a piece bent to clear..weld it on...and cut out the middle?

maybe a drop pitman/idler arm woudl work?

possibly..i think im only gonna need about an inch of clearance but i dont think i can take it out of the pan in the front because its not very tall to begin with

I know what your talkin about trev, my buddy that had the doored yota with a stock hood had to modify his steering that went under the motor. All he did was cut it at the ends and made drop downs and welded it up. Its made of cast steel so you should be ok welding it, just turn up the heat!

sweet thanks tim..i just bought a new 220v welder...lincoln powermig 215... so i should be good to go...i just wasnt sure if i could do that or not

NO! That will change your alignment!

Do what Self proclaimed ASSHOLE said. To make life easy, do it like a step notch. Weld and plate it all up then cut out the center and finish it off.
