whats up guys ok i have a 63 impala ss that im starting to restore now the question is the chrome moldings around the windows and down the side of the car..how do i take them off to where the clips dont break? so i can put the new chrome molding back on? PLEASE HELP!

I also have a 63 and its pretty difficult to not break the clips without bending the trim. Sometimes you get lucky if you pull the piece up and toward the bottom of the window at the same time . I found the best bet is to break em and just get new ones because they will just give you a bigger headache trying to save them.i think late great chevy.com has them.

cool but they are rivted on there i thought? can u just break them off and the the new clips just pop back onto the rivits sticking out from the body?

bobs impala parst should have them. the RIVET is welded to the car, not the clip, it slides and locks on the rivet.

oh ok sweet..i figured there was a way to replace them, but my dad was all worryed about taking the chrome off and not getting it back on right but yea i'll just buy new clips and chrome thanks guys! hey james does bobs impala parts have a website? or number?

As others have now said your best bet is break the clips and replace them. My favorite place for parts is Hubbards impala parts. WWW.impalaparts.com Good luck. check out my impalas I've got a couple of mine listed on here. Also got a '64 vert for sale if you know anybody looking.
