escort dies randomly

hey everyone. i got a call yesterday from a friend asking about her parents escort. i dont know what year it is, as the only information she gave me was that it will randomly die while driving and has to be restarted. i told her to put gas in the car but that wasnt the problem. anybody know what the problem could be??? any help is greatly appriciated.

check the ignition module, it might be heating up.

My wife drives a 99 escart, and it is doing the same thing. Put it in the shop today, get it back Monday. They said it is a vacum leak they can't find, but then the wife called said they got the part (wtf?) and didn't have time to install it?? I guess it wasn't the vacum lines after all, and my wife doesn't know a muffler from a piston LOL. If I find out what it is, and you still need to know, I'll post it.

lol....i dont see how a vacuum line kills a car but im not a mechanic. i think shops like to take advantage of people who dont know much about cars. yea if you find out the problem please post it.

check the coil. my grandmother had one and it would do the same thing. ended being the coil was going out after 200,000 miles haha. also another symptom if it has a distributor. check the cap for carbon tracks anc cracks. if the cap has a crack in it it could also cause the car to stall.

ignition module my cousins mom has one and it does the same thing i think its like $100 to fix it

I totaly forgot about this post. Acording to the mech. it was the PCV valve. It runs better now, but still seems like it wants to stall when it is put in Park. Idles low while in Drive too. I just hope it lasts till mid Jan. We are buying a new ride then.
