I have someone interested in buying my bd S10 that has a V8 in it that lives in northern Virginia. Is there a way to pass inspections with it? Any way to get around inspections since it is over 20 years old? What all would need to be done to it to make it pass? Thanks for your help

you'll have to check the local inspection laws, I know in North Carolina any vehicle over 10 years old doesnt have to pass emissions, but still needs all working lights, seatbelts, etc etc etc...

YEAAH. YOU BETTER KNOW SOMEONE AT THE INSPECTION STATION. VIRGINIA IS PRETTY TOUGH ON SUSPENSION. I KNOW A BUNCH OF PEOPLE DOWN THERE AND THEY GET HASSLED CONTANTLY

IM LIKE 5 MILES FROM VIRGINIA. THEIR INSPECTIONS ARE NOT THAT IN DEPTH AS FAR AS WHAT THEY GO OVER. BUT IF THEY SEE SUSPENSION MODS IT WILL NOT PASS. VA HAS A "NO TOLERANCE" LAW FOR LIFTING OR LOWERING. AND IM PRETTY SURE ITS HISTORIC AFTER 25 YEARS

i lived in Virginia. the truck wont pass inspection if it has air ride or hydraulics.

I live here, and have had many issues with inspections. You can fight inspections on the lowering/lifting law if the vehicle is between the legal driving height requirements when its brought in for inspection. If the person inspecting sees switches, or any type of suspension/frame mods, then it will fail right there. However, ive never seen an inspector get under a ride. They will inspect brakes which puts them within viewing range of anything, and they do emmissions testing. Now, i would actually be more concerned with the V8. Several years ago VA pretty much banned installing anything other than the factory motor in a ride. You would have more problems with the V8 then you would out of the suspension but both would probably give you issues. Fact is, its not gonna pass unless he finds a shop that has a minitrucker doing inspections, which can happen, but you have to be careful, they can loose their inspection license if discovered, or you have to find a shop that slacks when it comes to inspections. In Northern VA, i cant say, but we have several of those kind of shops in my area. Its not that they look over these things, some just dont bother to check. I know of several places that you can go in show them your lights and signals work, and blow your horn and youve got a sticker. Good luck
