does anybody have a 98 bodystyle f150 with shaved doors. WITH autolock 35lb silonoids? i cant find a place to mount it inside my door without it hitting my window frame. Where are you guys mounting them???

It was easy
I dont have any pics but I mounted 50 lb easily. I cut a piece of 2x4 rect tubing in half then drilled a few holes to mount the solinoid. Then I placed the 2x4 (which fits perfectly in a hole in the inner door skin with a straight pull from the lock mechinism) then I just welded in the bracket and hooked up the 6" cable with a ferrule and wired it up. The solinoid is right there when you take off the door panel so I believe it fits right behind the armrest. If you take a pic of your inner skin and post it I will show you where I mounted mine.

ok i see what you are saying. i was told that you have to have the silinoid pulling down. so i have it using the outside door handle lever. but you have it using the inside handle lever so it can pull sidways, right. Does that interfear with using the door handle at all to get out?

Thanks for the info

Actually if you look at the latch in the door jamb itself I think there is a "pull" that has a hole in it that pulls sideways

Like where that arrow is is where to cable goes EXCEPT inside the door. The piece of 2x4 is set so the noid is a straight pull on the latch. If you look at your jamb you will see what I mean.

I remember the cable was only like 8" long I looped it through the hole in the latch itself and crimped a ferrule and looped it into the solinoid and crimped it. Works perfect, Short pull easy to work on. Hopefully that makes sense.

ok, so i was looking at my latch and now i am a little confused. the outside handle lever has to pull down. and the inside lever has to be pushed in order to open. so that only leaves the lock lever, witch you had mentioned before. but i dont understand how it would work by pulling the lock lever. ?????????

dangit

I don't remember now. I thought there was a pull on the latch itself that went sideways

Maybe I did run it to where the side pull rod is. If I did no I never had any trouble

gimme break I did it 4 years ago!

I suck

You can do what I did on my truck. I couldn't find a place so I ran a pulley. I put the solenoid at the bottom of the door. Put the pulley on the corner of the door and ran the wire. It's been working for over a year now without any problems. Mines a daily also.
