their was a guy selling a biodiesel setup in a van but what I thought was odd was the van had a 318 in it. if I was making my own fuel I'd want evry vehicel I owned to run on it even if it was just used to run to mcyD's to pick up veg oil

There is a big differance in running bio diesel and straight veggie fuel. With bio diesel you have to mix in lye and other chemicals that I don't want around my house and kids. With veggie oil all you have to do is filter it down in steps to 5 micron. There are 3 problems with veggie fuel though, (1) You have to run some sort of heater for the fuel and lines, (2) You have to run 2 fuel systems so you can purge out the veg oil on shut down. (3) You should change your engine oil a little more often due to the veg oil getting by the rings and contaminating the crankcase.

We have a buddy in Murfreesboro that makes it. Sometimes we will buy 100gal and run it in the rollback.

go google it there profesional factories making homestills for the biodiesel .
it pretty big in germany and swiss they use rapeseedoil for it .
i've seen plans for a preheater for the thicker oil they basicly used normal copper plumbing and soldering they run a small tube inside a big tube and adapt t pieces so they can slaide over the smaller tube .
they also used a preheated fuelfilter .
i seen busses that had a lid on a dieseltank big enough to put solid blocks of fat in it they run tubes through it that transported the engine cooland through the stuff to make it liquid enough to use .
a diesel can run on everything used engineoil .... no problem oliveoil fine coconutoil sunscreen sure as long as its a little bit flamable it will run on it .
just dont use these oils on the newer electronicly common rail diesels cause the injectors are mush more finely made and tuned and run mush higher linepresures , they cant handle the biostuff withoud clogging up too fast

i have looked into this..too much troube for me to make, at the end of the batch, you need to start the process over. maybe if I was retired I would do it to keep me busy.

Gotta drive to get the Lye
Gotta drive to get the grease (now people are charging for it)
Gotta drive to get the metanol.
Now wait 4 -5 days to cook.

I even have the Mark book on it somewhere.

cook? from wat i understood the stuff didnt needed to cook just sit overnight , but i agree that if you get the amount wrong it doesnt work and if there stil is some waterresideu in the frying oil you get soap instead of diesel
try this one for size :

I looked into it also, they say it costs about .60 to make a gallon pretty good. But as soon as people start doing it they start charging for the old fry oil so there it costs more. The setup I looked at cost about $4000 and you could make like 160 gallons per day. If you went in with people you could maybe make it worthwhile. It would probably be illegal to sell it without getting a bunch of permits and stuff. And I agree you would need a separate place to do it at because of the chemical.
