does a tailgate skin go right over the existing tailgate??...or do you have to remove the factory stock skin??...my tailgate will be functionable too

The proper way to do it is remove the factory skin. That way the new panel wont stick out. A trick ive learned instead of drilling a bunch of spot welds out is, to grind the perimeter until the stock skin comes off and then grind the remaining metal that has the spot welds in it.

TAKES FOR EVER DRILL OUT THE SPOTS IT IS WAY FASTER & THE MESS IS A LOT SMALLER THINK ABOUT GRINDING ALL THAT METAL.....

That shit is good to know. I am getting ready to put a full skin combo on my s10 and was wondering if i should do away with the actual gate and build a 1x1 frame or what.

Is it anything like doing a skin on a door? I've done a door skin before but never a gate skin. I just ground all the metal away instead of drilling spot welds. Don't know which way is easier but i like the grinding method. Just don't grind to much metal away or you won't have anything to weld to,least it would be harder anyways.
