No this isnt a work out program It is a question I want to narrow the rear end in my 99 dodge ram 1500 I want to do 1 1/2 inches on both side to tuck my 22 has any one done this in a 1500 and can you use the same axle?

just get the axles cut and resplined after you narrow the rear end

there is a couple of things you can do if you haven't done already. try rolling the lip of the rear fenderwell and flare the fender wells out. its kinda a pain in in the ass since the truck is already painted. i did both on my dodge i just sold with a 22 x 10 and a mad offset. if you can't get the wheels to the right offset then u have no choice to either narrow the rearend or buy new wheels with the right offset. i didn't have to narrow the rear end on mine just took the time to measure the offset before i oreder my wheels.

I already shaved the fender lip. I already know im going to have to cut the rear end. I got the best offset I could on the wheels I wanted but they just don't make them with any more offset.I was just wondering if any one else has done this?

call some reputable shops in your area that build race cars, im sure one of them if not all would cut your housing down, its alot easier than trying to do it yourself...... just disassemble the rear end down for them... then check your axles.... if they are straight (which im almost positive they are tapered) you can have them resplined, if not, call up moser engineering, and they can build you new axles to your specs if you send them the old ones...

measuring for offset is fine but the thing is they dont make a wheel for the truck with enough back spacing to tuck in the rear. I had to shave nearly all my fender lip to clear the same wheels he has now in a 20x8 with 5" bs and a 255/35 tire.

well the axles cant be cut and resplined, they need to be ordered new from moser. There are some other options that are better in my opinion. you can swap in a old f-150 axle which is 4" narrower overall and has the same bolt pattern, you will loose your speedo and get a CEL from disconnecting your abs speed sensor in the rear diff. The second option is getting an axle out of a 3rd gen ram with 3.92 gears, limited slip, and disc brakes. I like this option because you get all these nice features and the ability to get factory replacement parts at any time which may be impossible with aftermarket stuff. The abs speed sensor in the rear end is a different model but all you need to do is remove it and put yours in because they all use the same part number tone ring to get their signal from. This axle is as wide as the regular 9.25 so it has to be narrowed but the rest of the goodies make up for it. hey if you got any questions hit me up at groundedsst on AIM ive been doing alot of research into this for my ram.

your options arent better than just narrowing the stock axle......

You can ship the whole axle to moser. They will narrow the axle housing for $110 and respline the axle for $110. If they can't be resplined they can make you some new ones. They main cost is shipping.

why not.

most places charge over 1k for a ram axle to be narrowed because you need new axles. The ford 9" is only a few hundo which is way less then factory narrowing. The 3rd gen rear end can be had for 700 from a wrecker and thats way cheaper then doing gears, lsd and disc brakes and you can still drive the truck while its being narrowed. In my ram im putting in a new rear end with the discs etc and narrowing that 6" overall. if you have any better ideas other then narrowing the shitty 94-01 ram ram rear end post em um im open to all ideas.

thats the price for a stripped rear end, assembly is bank because it takes a compitent person to be able to set back lash ...etc dis assembly and reassembly is where the money is at.
