so i was driving home last night and i stopped for a tasty beverage. when i got back out to my truck i go to turn on my lights and they wont turn on. I flick the switch a couple times and finally they turn on. A while later i smelled smoke and i could see it coming from my headlight switch. I felt it and it was rather warm. Do you think the headlight switch is just bad or is it something in the wiring. It on a 91 chevy full size. thanks!!

sounds like the switche is shorted. put a new one in and inspect to see no wires were burnt.

happened to mine. replace the switch and make sure the wires leading to the switch look okay and the insulation on them doens't look melted

replace the head light switch and check that there is not melted wires or ant wires that are bare and may have rubbed against each other

i was looking at the wires and they are all fine. Someone spliced into 2 of the wires for what i am guessing is the alarm??? the truck doesnt have fog lights so thats all i could guess...
