I have an Oasis XD3000 i need to put in my truck. I have a 2003 dodge ram. Im gonna move the battery to the bed next to the oasis. Should i run 1 or 2 optimas and should i run red or yellow tops? Also do you guys think the alternator would be ok?

honestly man ive got an xd2000 in my toyota, ive run it for over a year and still have the same battery i bought the truck with 2 years ago. the battery is in the bed next to the compressor as well. i dont think you need 2 optimas, 1 would be just fine unless your running a serious stereo or what not

i needed two batteries... but i used normal batteries...

i also upped the alternator, but not sure that it was needed...

as long as you add one other battery you will be fine with your alternator you have, just as long as it is working properly(not old and going bad). this compressor draws some juice but for a short time(fills fast). another thing that helps is to have a blow off valve so the compressor ant tring to start up with 200 psi on the pump head. If you dont use optmia battery get a good deep cycle battery with high resurve time.

Perfect thanks guys. I think im just gonna run 2 red tops next to the compressor and see how that goes. Where can i get the blowoff valves you talk of. I was gonna do like a 200 psi check valve.

All you need is a check valve with a built in unloader. When the compressor shuts off, all pressure between the compressor and check valve is unloaded (the psssssssht sound when your home compressor shuts off)

Not sure if you have any Grainger's near you, but they carry them. Might want to check www.mcmaster.com as well.
