Problem with photoshop!

i was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before...I just had 4 WIP's saved as .psd files dissapear when i load them...they load as a Pure black background and nothing showing up for the layers that were in them!

is this a problem with photoshop or would it be a computer related problem?

damn troy, that has to suck... but to answer you. No i never experienced it before and i have been using PS for about a year now. So i wouldnt know what to tell you... but telling you that its your computer is hard to say b/c programs do curpt in some cases. Try saving the same files in multiple formats such as PSD, PDF, etc.. ya know. and see what happens.

ok...i stopped saving wip's in 'jpg form cause of compression issues and started saving them as .psd's...it has been working fine for a while till now...one of the ones i lost was a Extreme brushed car i was working on in 2 views...was getting close to finishing it toountil i tried to open it after Christmas

well i guess i can always start it over...i had 15 hours invested in it too *Shakes head*

Is pdf files good to work with...never tried saving in that format before!

as long as it saves the layers i dont see why not, i use PDF, PSD all does same from what i noticed...

and 15 hours? crap i hope you have something done from scratch. lol if it took that long.

it was a 2 view with a Extreme widebody ground effects conversion, glass roof, an was working on finishing the paint and background when it just vanished on me...learned a good lesson on this misshap to save to more than 1 file as i go

ahh i see, yup save as ya go... i learned that also.

is there any way to tell if its gonna happen or not? before you lose it entirely or is it just something that happens that you cant avoid?

theres nothing u can do about it.. sometimes it just happens.

im sure there are ways to avoid it
