I just started doing some estimates for the shop I work at (just finished a $22,000+ one for a 4 day old 350z) but I know I wouldnt work for progressive or geico, those two suck and I dont know about alstate either, I am good friends with there local ajuster and he has a lot of complantes. I think a indepenant company or maybe state farm would be the best, last I knew most of the companies want a four year degree, I have even heard that they will take a newbe college kid over some one that has years of experance in the body industry. good luck though

well i just got out of 2 years of college with an associates in applied science. i majored in automotive collision repair and refinishing and i currently work at a body shop and im starting rack up some I-CAR points (right now i have about 10 but more soon in the spring) so i think that might help me out in the interview process that i already have some additional learning. do you HAVE to have a 4 year degree?? yeah i'm aiming for state farm if i can because i've heard that they're the best handling this stuff. i just want to talk to someone on the inside and find out what kind of schooling if any additional i might need. thanks i appreciate it.

As far as I know you dont have to have a 4 year degree but I have heard that it helps a lot for some companys, all you can do is try I dont think the I-CAR points help but they cant hurt. The best thing you could do is talk to the ajusters that come into your shop.
