Ok, i got like 400 bolts and screws out (behind speaker grills, defrost, "L" brackets, kick panels, etc). It's wobbling back and forth, but i've heard there's a clip somewhere that will cause the dash to rattle when i put it back in if i break it taking it out. Where the fuck is it? I can't seem to find it anywhere (course, the spaghetti wiring cluster fuck don't help). Also, is there any way i can take it out and leave all the wiring intact? Is there a plug somewhere I can unplug to keep all the wiring inside the dash? If i do that, can i still sand and paint it with all the wiring under it? Sorry for the novel, i've been busting my ass on the dash since 11pm and i just put another dip in.....can't waste it.

might be ya harness is still clipped into the backside of the dash ....gotta get it seperated from the dash also bnefore it will come out ...or could be ya still have some of the ac/heater boxes bolts left in

As for the harness coming all out .....i did mine diffrently than most cause i knew right off the bat i was gonna have to relocate all my shit insde the cab and lengthen the harness before i even touched it..so cant really remember if that rubber plug & hole on the driverside on the firewall will allow everything to come through or not .... im thinkin it wont but i didnt even look at that as an option just cause how mine needed to be done

yeah, my main harness that goes thru the firewall into the engine bay is in the cab now, everything fit through, that's why the hole is so odd shaped, everything slid thru except the plug that goes to the fuse box, it's huge and i had to slide it thru sideways. But i was talking about all the wires inside the dash (gauges, radio, all that stuff). I know i'm gonna have to relocate a bunch of stuff too, right now i just want to get everything done so i can get it rolling before show season, it's been bagged 3 1/2 years and i've only got to drive it 2 months of that.

you can see the wiring harness on the floor.

did u get the two bolts at the bottom of the dash on the right and left side. also you might have to drop down the steering column by undoing the bracket from the dash that holds it up, there are two guide pins that stick out from the sides by the kick panels the dash has to tilt down then lift off those.

Red Seal Mint (i switched when i had to start buying it myself)

And dragit, i got the bottom corner bolts. The drivers side is pretty easy, the passenger side is harder cause it's behind the dash at a funny angle, and you can only get 1/4 turn or so with every turn of the wrench before you run out of room. It does'nt look like the steering column has anything to do with it, it's moving back and forth pretty good, almost like it's on a pivot, but i can't find the pivot point.

alright im sorry i dont fit in i like good old copenhagen long cut. but ya have you ever replaced a hazard switch in one? if you dont want to i would loosen the steering column. plus it sounds like your already havin to much fun so i would just do it to see if it would work. Jesus this is a novel.

I scanned through and I didn't notice if you said you got the bolts on either side of the steering column there should be 2 on either side. Also behind the glove box I remember there being some. After the first time I took mine out I only put enough bolts back in so it wouldn't rattle so I'm having a hard time remebering anymore. I know the wiring harness kicked my ass, you have to get it off of the dash as far as I know thats what I did.

twinkie, i'll let you slide on the 'hagen, that's what i started with, but when i had to buy my own and that shit crept up to $5/can, i said fuck it. I've found out that there's a way to tub the firewall without taking the dash out, so i'm going to try that first. Thanks for the help though, guys.
