I have a 99 mazda and I am about to z the front but my tire is going to hit the brake master cyl. The rear line coming out of the master cyl has a 1" extension on it and I have noticed that @96 the master cyl dosent have this. Has anyone tried to remove the extension and run the line straight into the cyl??? I thought of switching the master cyl with an old one but the older ones have a relay/sensor or something at the end with a hook-up and the newer ones dont?

is the extension between the master cyl and the booster/firewall? Hey if you can load some pics of it. i might be able to help. If it's what im thinkin of it will cause the master cylinder to throw to far and hit at the end before full braking. I''d like to help so see if ya can get some pics please.

no the extension is in the line, its a check valve. the sensor in teh old ones is for the redbrake/ ebrake light to signal when fluid is low. the one on the end is for the cruise control.

So James can i use a master cyl of the 96 below? They bolt up the same!

yea i dont see y u couldnt, u ditchin abs? if so your gona need a prop valve off an older ranger(94 down) and redo your brake lines.

No I want to keep abs, what would happen if i took the checkvalve out and machined a piece to adapt directly to the brake line?

i just dumped the ABS on mine completely.
