i have tried to get help before so trying again. i have a 91 dakota. i have brand new 200 amp altenator with a brand new yellow and red top optima. some reason it is holding a charge. i have been told my battery grounds my not be good does anyone have any opinions or no how to test to see if the batterys have bad grounds?
Autozone or advanced can't check it? just wonderin? I know they aint the greatest, but use the machine urself ur smarter than they r
yeah i did that and it says my batterys are good and the alternator is working so i ran all new lines and still nothing. that is when someone told me it could be a bad ground so that is why i am trying to figure out how to test that.
check for paracitic loss with a dmm when the truck is off.
alright if i do that and it shows it going lower you think that is what the problem should be
well if you go right off the battery with nothing on and you see that its drawing x amount of amps then you need to hit your fuse panel and see where its being drawn to.
i will try that and see if i can figure it out i will post up on to let you know if i figure it out. thanks man
also both batteries should be sharing the same common ground- not nes in the same spot- but on the same piece of metal- not just two stamped together. that will cause a ground loop. You should also try each battery one at a time with a dmm to the ground point to check the resistence for a bad ground, forsome reason the best grounding point s on autos is the strut tower. trying romoving one of the bolts there and stripping the metal down and connecting your ground their.
