I have an old set of 5 spoke 16" polished aluminum wheels that i'd like to paint black. They arent brand new or anything and they are pretty dull. What do i need to do as far as prepping them to accept paint?

wash/pressure wash em, red scotch brite pad and adhesion promotor.

why not powder coat. way more durable.

costs too much. I don't want to shoot $200-$300 worth of powder coat on a $100 set of wheels

should only be around 20-25$ per rim. Unless prices are just fuckin high in your area.

hell, im getting my frame powdercoated for 300$ish

When I got a set of 15's powder coated for my rock crawler it ran me like 80 buck's for the set.

youve got about ten minutes time on sanded aluminum to get something on it before it gets a layer of oxidation that needs to be removed before you paint it..
