Ya, to the ones that build frames and stuff....

How long would it take to build a frame, from cuttin the cab back and a full build up with doin a body drop in the same process....

im wonderin this because my buddy convinced me that he could build this, and it would take 5 months, and now its almost a yr later...

so is that resonable???

and yes ive paid him already!!!!

so what you think i should do, take what hes done, which is all you see on my page, which is even not the frame from bein almost done, and get someone else to do it

or

keep buggin him and listen to him tell me he doesnt have much left, and that'll he'll be done by the end of the month, etc etc....

and its not that im disappointed in the work, but what gets me is that its been two weeks and i havent said nothin and he hasnt dont one thing to it!?!?!?

so im asking everyone, what you think, and what you sugest....hit me with ideas........

your friend is just lazy, our '86 is nearly complete, just need to finish the sheetmetal work and hookup all the air management and I probably have 25-30 days of total work on the truck.

and it's stockfloored on 22's and shaved, rolled in bone stock

not baggin at all man, but if you guys agreed to get it done in 5 months, he is kinda behind.

Of cource we don't have all the info, did you agree on a rolling chasis, or a driver? did you pay him what you would a shop? stuff like that.

I'd say before you go off on him, talk to him about what it will take to get done, then call and bug him about it, and go over and help him on it. It's easy for your truck to be out of sight out of mind, when there is nothing more for him to benifit from. So remind him, and be apart of it. And in the future, don't pay for things before you recive them. good luck bro

ive talked to him twice......

i call him and buy him everytime i go to the house on the weekends....

ya i tried to help out a buddy, he said he needed the money, so i thought id try to be the right guy, and so i paid him, the deal was just for the frame and body work on the cab, i had the bed already done, so...

and the engine wiring up, interior, and install was on me, thats what i was goin to do....

ive asked him many times if he needed help, he says he doesnt everytime and says a reason for why it wasnt worked on and would have it done at the end of the month, etc etc.

A friend and myself back halved my dime in a week at about 5 hrs at a time.

and that was everything, frame, bag mounts, 4 link was all made and set up.

I was traditionaled in about 2 nights as well...

I would say next weekend when you go over there say alright I am helping you work on my truck, If he says no I dont need help. Say obviously you do cuz it took you almost a year to do what others have done in a week after work...

that...thats just...what I would..say...

one thing NEVER gives someone that is work on your ride all the money until it is done. that way they have something to work of. you gave him all the money up front, that money is all gone.

get your truck back or ride his ass. go over there and just sit they while he is working on it.

good luck

matt (Byrdman), Thats why you never pay someone in full until the job is complete and you like the work. I have people pay me in 3rds. 1 3rd up front that covers any supply costs, 1 3rd at 50% completion, that amount covers my labor and the final 3rd when the vehicle is delivered. With this pay schedule, If for some reason I had a customer that was not happy with the finished product and did not pay the final payment, my profits would be lost but material and labor costs are covered with the previous 2 3rds payments. I have never had someone not make the final payment (knock on wood) but this gives the customer the opportunity to not pay if they didn't like the work. It works good for me and my customers like it too, especially new customers that haven't done business with me before. Go get your truck, don't pay him another nickel for anything and take it to a shop you or someone else know of that does good work and in a timely manner. Just mark it up as a learning experience and move on.
