sup all. i was thinking about upgrading my alternator to one of the higher output ones. Its a 91 fullsize with a 350. how do i get one? would the morons at autozone understand what i am looking for? or is a stock one for another truck that i need to tell them to order. how does this work? thanks

you need to check out Iraggi alternators. A little steep in price but you get what you pay for.

just don't get one that is a stock one wound up to however many amps. I got a 150amp alt off ebay that turned out to be a stock one wound up to 150. It lasted about 9 months. This is not daily driving, keep in mind, it was in the shop the whole time (it was started once a week or so), so we're talking about a grand total of maybe 15 hours running time.

would you recomend the alt or should i get a yellow top. I am just trying to get some stuff so when i bag my truck it wont be so bad. i am planning on running couple comps and my stereo. i say 2 viair 380's and maybe 2 of my older firestone i believe comps. or should i just run the viair?

get the alternator.. even if you get a yellow top u need the alternator to supply the current to the battery. The alternator in a vehicle is there to supply all the power the vehicle needs. The battery's purpose is to be able to act as a back up under extreme loads and for starting the vehicle. Spend the extra cash and get the alternator. in my opinion run the viairs.

just check out Summit or Jeg's, theres the Powermaster on Summit for around $200 depending on the output(80amp-200amp)

i got a toyota pick up thats bagged all around...im running two 280c viairs and sterio. my stock battery and alternator work fine. at night ive run everything from headlights on, sterio bangin (single sub system w/ 700 watt amp), turn signal blinkin, and compressors running and havent had any problems with lights dimming or the motor chokin up... honestly i would hook the suspension up, and sterio and IF you need more power run a bigger alternator. also, if your sterio is running multiple amps, you should prolly be running a capacitor anyways to aid in the power issues for that....

I got a 100 amp chrome GM one-wire alternator on my truck. It was $90 shipped.
