hey I had red Sherwin williams primer on my hood and it oxidized. Im now workin at a shop that sprays ppg was onderin if anyone had a problem with the ppg oxidizing like the sherwin williams primer did, bein primer my logical guess is that they all will just seein if anyone knew somethin i didnt...Im doin flat black primer, it wont be on there long im in the final prime before pait just need to get it one color cause the spots are killin me...thanks...

strip it, its prob rust under there. is it lacquer or urethane primer?

im a sherwin pro. the primer did that becuse the color prime or spectra prime is made to be painted over and not to be exposed the eliments. most primers will do this the heat of your motor is a factor to. i use a(s65 2k basecoat transparent)over my primer if it is going to be used as a finish and it gives it a semigloss look.

hes right...
any black primer will fade after time.
ive used uncleared black base for some semi gloss jobs.. best is to clear it with flattner in the clear

im familiar ith the sherwin williams, can i just spray the s65 over primer like that to seal it? we use the s65 under basecoats....
