you can get it rewound to be higher amperage, but there have been a few guys who have swapped on a GM one wire. Try NCBiggJ on here, he has done it, or maybe someone else will pop up.

I put a one wire GM on mine. Mounted it upside down in relation to how you would mount it on a chevy and used a smaller bolt. Could Bearly squeez the belt on. 90amps for 100 bucks.

trucks under snow, no pics soon. I just went in to a local battery shop and told them I wanted a chevy one wire with around 90amps. All he said was,"you won't have many amps at idle, you can pick it up tommarrow morning, $80 plus tax. whats your name?" I would assume mid 80's chevy truck. I was scetchy on how do it too. Once I got the mazda alt. bracket off the block it took me about 30min. to figure out how to put it on.

I made a new lower bracket, and modified the upper bracket to get the pulley to line up. Its really close to everything.

I ended up adding more support to the lower mount before sendign it to powdercoat. I added a finger that wrapped around the front to hold both sides of the alternator to keep it from deflecting or flexing.

Its really close to everything. With a belt tight on it, I've got about 1/4" between it and the steering box mount, and about 3/8" away from the motor mount, and real close to the radiator hose mount. It looks badass though.

Different truck, but it should be the same concept with modifying brackets and all that.
