HINGED BED

im doing mine with heavy duty gate hinges from tractor supply :-D

DONT YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE BED SLIDE BACK FIRST SO WHEN YOU LIFT IT IT DOESNT HIT THE CAB

depends on how he is gonna have it tilt. If he tilts it on the side then no he wont have to make it move towards the rear. If he tilts it to th rear then yes he will

It also depends on were it pivots at. If it pivots at bottom of the bed like somwhere around the rollpan then you don't have to move it back. If it pivots above that then yes you do have to make it move back. You could you bushings to make it tilt. Probably hold up better than hinges and not flex as much.
