ok so i got a ticket for no bumper,i have a molded roll pan,i kno its not a legal bumper, but my truck came with no bumper at all stock from toyota.all it had was the plate lights and rubber stops.i heard that yota bumpers used to be optional.the cop basically laughed wen i told him it didnt come with one.so i looked at the fl laws n it doesnt say or i didnt see anything about roll pans not being bumpers.ima weld a bar at the end of the frame/behind the roll pan and thats gunna be the bumper.vettes basically have the same thing.so ima talk to someone at the court house on friday.

Been through all that several times. Bumpers are options on trucks.

Get some 2x3 plate or square tubing and close up the end of your frame. That is what they are worried about, causing more damge than you should to the person that just slammed into you.

Yea i've got a ticket for that before and this is in TN. They basically want something behind it to "obsorb impact" any kind of a bar welded behind it gets ya through basically.

hey man go to the courtn house library, been there many times, and look up the law statue, it will explain in there, i did this for my bumper height ticket found all the info and the cop never showed but now i know there is no bumper height law, if you weld a bar behind it they should write it off b/c yes its just like a vette or any other car the roll pan just acts like a bumlper cover..

I had a cop do thats same shit to me a few years ago. I went to my local Toyota dealership & asked them if bumpers were standard or an option & I got the parts manager to write me out a letter saying that bumpers were an option & not standard. If you have a dealer near you then try that & see if you have any good luck.
