narrowing rear end

I got an 02 silverado..I need to narrow it 11 inches....I know how to narrow the rear end, the housing..but..how about the axles? I've heard alot about mosier..anyone have any suggestions or where to get the axles? or suggestions for narrowing the housing?

We've started narrowing the haousings in house by retubing the housing. We use a slightly thicker wall. We also use Mosier axles. Call us up if you need anything.

Talk to Moser, see if they can make you new ones. Or try to find a local machine shop that has done it a few times before. Certain axles and be machined down, but some taper down smaller after the splines. Those need to be remade.

And heres a simple way to narrow an axle housing.

thats cheep man, just take it to them and have them do it. Ive seen prices for that running well over 500-600 dollars, for narrowing the housing and axle shafts. I would jump on that price from them.

Moser is very reasonable for prices. $235 was the price they gave me on 2 brand new axles for my blazer (1" shorter then stock)
Places around here want 500-600 to do the housing. I'm just gonna build a jig and do it myself for that price.

If you do decide to respline the axles (and this goes for everyone) be sure to have them reheat treated. We had a set done about 5 years ago by a local company that twisted right outside of the carrier. The resplined area is like butter in comparison.

For my f-150 Moser also resplined my stock axles,which have been working fine for 4 months no problems. Chassis engeneering did the housing. Total cost with me stripping the housing and reassembly was 350. That included shipping the shafts to and from moser.
