Hey, I gotta drive my truck 4 hours tomorrow to Minneapolis and it's causin problems. I drove it around 3 hours last night (highway/in town) and had ZERO problems. Stereo, chimes, and lights all worked perfectly.

Everything electrical works EXCEPT my stereo, dome/map lights, and door chime. They worked sporadically earlier today and seemed to shut off every time I hit the brake. Now I get nothing.

I know the ignition switch is providing power; my pressure switch is hooked to the same circuit and everything still works there. Fuses are all good. Ground and power leads are all good at the battery. The engine starts, idles, and charges fine. Stereo wiring looks good inside the dash (don't know why it would all of a sudden cause problems anyway).

I'm thinking fusible link.... Yes? No? I'm probably going to just drop it off at a shop tomorrow since I have class literally all day, but it would be nice to cut down on their troubleshooting time if possible.

check the grounds for the said items not working properly, also check the hots coming to those components. look for a broken wire or a shorted wire coming off of the fuse to them also. the fuse may be good but the wire coming from the fuse may be loose or the wires inside the insulation could be broke. hope this helps bro.

You have a loose power wire or ground wire. If it were a short you would be burning up fuses. Shake the wiring related to the systems you are having problems with until you can duplicate it. Then you will be able to find it. Good luck!

did you just install a cd player?

even tho the fuse looks fine change it i worked at best but for over a year and seen that alot people freakout over it and its just a fuse blown even tho it looks fine

I just went out and tried to do some wire wiggling. There's nothing to wiggle that helps the problem or tells me what the problem is. I just checked all of the fuses with a flashlight too. Nothing seems wrong with any of them.

I should clarify that. That is the IGN+ wire that goes to my stereo. My pressure switch is hooked into that line and it still kicks on, so the wire is still getting power when the key is ON.

How is the pressure switch wired into the circuit? Did you wrap the wire around the fuse and stick it back into the fuse box or did you splice it in to the wire in the back or what???

may sound stupid but pull the fuse out and put it back in. i have actually just had this problem on my 83 b2000. all i did was pull it out and put it back in and my problem was solved. probably a little corrosion on the terminal or something.

i would say that's quite a bit of draw off of the wire going into the stereo, which should be an accessory ACC+ wire, used to run about 10 amps or so. While your pressure switch may be working, it may be putting strain on the rest of the circuit. I would try to move it to the steering column, you can find plenty of power under there.

I would say that with your deck installed it may be pushing wires up agaist something, and grounding out. then when you pull the deck out and take preasure off the wire harness, you can't get it do it. dose it happen when just brakeing? or over bumps and side to side as well?
