sub box and paint

i just built my sub box out of 3/4 mdf but instead of covering it i kinda want to paint it gloss black, what would be the correct steps to doing this? also if i painted it opposed to covering it would it be likely that the paint will crack from the bass? thanks

just prep it like a car, fill, block, fill more if necessary, prime, block, prime, block, yada yada.
