Here's what I am planing, I want to mold a TV into underside of my trunk. I want to know who makes the best monitors out there and where can I get it. The size I am looking for is 15" to 20"s. I am not looking for a flip down, I just want a monitor. I would buy a flip down if it is not to hard to take apart and rewire to make it just a monitor.

Hey bro, I can only speak from what I know, I used icon tvs in my ride. I have six of them ranging in sizes from 6" to 15" and i can honestly say the pics on them aren't bad at all. I'm not sure bout just the monitor as opposed to the flip downs though. If you want a clear tv, I would recommend Icon (but to each his own)!

try looking for just a raw module, unless u can find a cheap flipdown that size. i took my 6.8" flip downd apart and molded in my headliner, pretty easy actually

Yea man, lo75lux is right. You can take any monitor you wish and, as long as you have the screen attached with the "motherboard", you can make your own mounts or frame for it to sit where ever you want. Essentially, all you need is the guts of the TV, the rest is up to you!! Good Luck.

Where is the best place to buy a monitor for this application and who makes the best ones. This is going in a car, so it has to be DC compatible, or would I need a converter.

If you buy a small 10-20" home flatscreen monitor, then you will need to make a housing to hold/support it, (it'll be heavier than a mobile tv), along with a power inverter to "plug it in". I do not think you will need a video amplifier, but I am not 100% sure here. If you go with mobile monitors, they hook up with auxillary cables like the ones on a home theatre system (yellow, white, and red prongs) You will need to make sure your able to connect it to your current system with existing audio/video inputs or through an unused accessory (like a cd changer hookup with appropriate wiring). You won't need a power converter this way, but depending on were you mount it, signal strength, pic quality, etc. you may need/want a video amplifier for better resolution.
