need help with a door conversion

i am currently workin on my project truck a gmc 92 suburban and i saw some door conversion but they all look the same i was thinking of doing something different i want to have the driver side and passenger side doors extend out fully with the seat attach to it basically when i hit a button the doors will extend out with the seats attached to the door on a actuator i was wondering if this can be done or is it a good idea does anyone done this before or do u have some pic i can see or if any one has an idea on how to do it please help me

I think it sounds like a cool idea. Alpine did something similar with an X5 for Sema a few years ago. You will have to get 4 heavy duty rails and basically attach them to the floor so one set slides out to the driver side and one set slides out to the passenger side. Attachment points to the door will be the main support so this has to be very secure. It may end up becoming bulky. I think its a cool idea. GO for it.

I saw it done on tuner challenge once. I imagine it is possible with some cars. But i don't think it will work for you. Well it may but the doors on trucks like yours and mine *89 chevy f/s*, are very heavy. Add the weight of the seat which i would assume 20-40 pounds depending on style of seats. Then add your weight and tryen to hold that on sliding rails that have no support from underneath i'd say it probably wouldn't work with out a LOT of support brackets and what not. Im not sayen its not possible,anything is possible. But all im sayen is,is that i think it would be alot of stuff to store under a seat that you have to sit on and be able to see over the steering wheel and not rubbing the top of your head. But to each his own. Good luck with it. Im just gonna stick to doing suicide doors on mine. But good luck on your project hope it works out.

man you should check out alpines new mercedes. the doors on that thing are insane. check out the vid here..it would be very hard to do on a truck..but it would look killer

I say keep it simple man, you got a four door. So suicide the back doors & relocate the back door handles so they the front handles
