255 is too wide for an 8.5 A 245 is perfect for an 8.5 it depends on the brand of tire also. Nittos run larger than most others and falkens run skinny. All tires are different.

I have them on my taocma. They worked fine for a little over a year, but now the side walls have softened and they break the bead often now. I would suggest going with a 235 or a 245 if at all possible.

I run the 225/30/20's on my truck. I have 20x8.5 and it is a little stretched but I personally like it. I could have went bigger but I like them. Most wheels are about an inch wider from outside lip to outside lip. So if you have an 8.5 inch wheel it will measure between 9 to 9.5 inches which is why a 225 looks stretched on a 8.5 inch wheel.

225/35s fit perfect on a 8.5 rim.

I have put 20s on about 15 or so Fusions now. I did another one today. We use 20x7.5 wheels and 225/35s, if we go to a 8.5 we go to 245. Looks perfect. With a 3d Carbon kit and Eibach springs, we have not had any rubbing issues with these at all. Hope this helps.
