It has been awhile since taking mine apart but I thought that the steering column was mounted to the dash. If that is the case then you have to address that first.

not on a 95 up ranger you cant.

SURE YOU CAN --- IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY THE STERRING COLUMN BOLTS TO PART OF THE AC VENTALATION --- JUST REMEMBER TO PLUG THAT GAUGE CLUSTER BACK IN AND YOUR GOOD TO GO -- BY THE WAY MINE IS A 1998 RANGER -- HOPE THAT HELPS

I had to pull the dash and vent system out together. I tried for a while to seperate them inside the cab but there are too many screws from the backside.

The only way I could see it working is if you pulled the fuse box out of the dash, plugged it in. seperated the dash skin from the ventilation ductwork and put it back in the truck and then bolted the steering column back up, as well as putting the gauge cluster back in.

I know you asked about a ranger but here is the way my s10 looks right now and its my daily. I had to put my gauge cluster back in b/c I kept running out of gas.

on the newer ranger you cant the colum bolt to the dash

if you took the dash shell off then yes you could just run the skeleton from the dash w/ the column bolted to it, but if you dont have the gauge cluster in, the alt. wont charge.
