i don't know... i got the truck towed back to my house... im really starting to think it's the fuel pump now... it held charge over night and had enough juice to get it cranking but it feels almost flooded or something... it turns and clicks and is so close to completely turning over but it just won't... and i realized the fuel pump is making the humming noise like it always does... plus the gas guage doesn't seem to be reading corrrectly... so i don't know... im going to pull the alternator tomorrow n get it tested and go from there i guess.. if it ends up being the fuel pump, how hard is it to replace? i was thinking of getting a new fuel cell, would this be a good time to do that now??

sounds like the same problem i had on my fullsize chevy... idk the s10 setup but it sounds like you broke the sending unit/pump inside the tank... i broke mine, it had the same symptoms

idk how much they are for the s10 but the peice in the tank for the fullsize is a good 300+ bucks

it doesnt matter if the batt and the alt is dead, it will still crank if someone jumps you off...... listen to the rear of the truck, the fuel pump makes a humm for a few seconds to prime when the truck first cuts on.......

i would honestly check my battery terminals and clean them with baking soda and water.

GM's and their side mount battery terminals are notorious for causing what may seem to be battery or alternator problems. This is either because of corrosion on the terminals or the bolts have been over tightened and actually seperate the terminal for the battery. There are numerous TSBs about this for different make and model GM's. This should be the first thing to check before replacing expensive parts.

it turns and clicks and is so close to completely turning over but it just won't...

That tells me you are saying the engine is not spinning it is not even making a complete revolution. That's electrical.

it's definately not the battery... the terminals are fine and it's a newer optimea battery.. it charged fine and it's holding charge fine... when i turn the key, it turns over and everything just doesnt fire up... it isn't making the notorious hummming noise when i turn the key over, which makes me think it's something with the fuel pump... im pulling the alternator today to have looked at... if i bring the truck to a auto shop can they run a diagnostic with the computer and pin-point what's wrong with it? on another note, one of the strap like holders for the gas tank came loose and was dangling, which really makes me think it's something with the fuel pump... if that thing got loose i'd imagine something couldve gotten fucked up with the fuel pump or what not...

i just wish i knew a good honest mechanic here in vegas... everyone's so damn shady in this town... i'd rather just take it to somebody, but im not ready to take my pants off and bend over...

all your symptoms, sounds just like my problem with my fuel sending unit/pump inside the tank...

Chevy is notorious for failing fuel pumps. I can't count how many I delivered when I worked at the parts store.
