I work in telecommunications and have been doing every since I got out of hight school. I hate it but it also pays my bills and pays for my bucket. I am going back to school here soon to finish my degree in eletronics engineering and possibly take some welding and machining classes. Just stick in there. Oh by the way I am only 21.

What dont you like about telecomm? That is one of the fields im looking at. That or commercial and industrial electrical. One good thing is that I thought once I put in my 2 weeks they were gunna fire me but, they told me today that they were gunna keep me there as long as possible.

Do not go into commercial or industrial electrical work. That field is being taken over by hispanics. Not that that is a bad thing but it means the cost of labor will go down which also means the pay will go down. It has been on a study decrease for a few years now. Telecom pays alot more and is a lot "easier". For example I have been doing it for 3 years and make over $14 an hour. If I was to move to ATL I would make $24. Cost of living is different everywhere too. Best thing to do is listen to older people when they say get back in school.lol

How would I get started in telecom? If i were to continue were im at I would end up around $16 per hour in two years. which is not bad, but ide be turning wrenches still with no degree just a work history. The bottom line is I need to go back to school.

hey bro, i am from hempstead/waller. where are you from exactly? anyways, i went into the marine corps when i graduated high school and went in as a helicopter mechanic. i did 5 yrs, got out and went to college at westwood college of aviation over by hobby airport. now it is called redwood or something like that. now i do sheetmetal and composite repaires on army helicopters. i make damn good money and love my job. i just recently paid off about 95 percent of my bills so i am about to hook the truck up a little. woohoo. it is a damn good field to get into but also a risky field to get into.

go back home. nothing worse than being somewhere you hate. I would know. Anywhere that you have to drive through the delta at some point in the state, means it's a shitty state.

I hate where I live, can't find a job to work around my school schedule that is honestly worth having. Wherever you feel is home...more than likely is. I am 19 as well and would do whatever I could to go back to Orlando where my friends are, but being 19, living on your own, being a minitrucker, and trying to get a mechnical engineering with a focus on automotive isnt going to happen. So i stay here in my parents house, building a truck VERY slowly, and go to school.

This is what is making the decision so hard. I have more friends here but my family is in Houston. Tomball to be exact. I cant swing working 40 to 50 hours a week working on heavy equipment plus live on my own plus go to school. Its just to much. Ive pretty much made up my mind im gunna go live with the folks and figure the rest out when I get there.
