Wet sand the lights down with 600 grit, then dry them, pre-clean and tack them.
Get some clear, add some black base paint to it...maybe a ratio of 4:1 (4 being being black). Mix it up with the recommended hardener/reducer and shoot. I generally eyeball the amount of black I add. Try it on a crappy tailight first and see how dark it gets after two coats.
I don't like the BLACK BLACK BLACK tailight look. Less is more I think with smoking lights. I generally try to get it to the desired darkness after three coats max. So test it out and if you need to, just add more black. Then I wet sand and buff the lights...they look like factory if you do them right.
P.S. I should clarify, mix the clear so its ready to spray BEFORE adding the black paint. So what I mean by the 4:1 ratio is clear with hardener and reducer added part black base right outa the can.
