How can you tell if you need to notch for them or not? What I mean is can you tell when driving it if they need notched

If the truck is layed out and the steering doesnt feel like it is bound up, that should tell you. Or if you painted the notches with some paint I guess you could see if the paint is rubbed off. I dont do that but you could try it. Just clearance a little more than you need and you will be good. Those notches above look clean as shit by the way!

PULL YOUR WHEEL OFF AND PUT A JACK UNDER YOUR LOWER ARM JACK IT UP AND IF IT HITS YOU NEED A NOTCH IF YOU DRIVE IT WITHOUT ONE AND LAY IT OUT ON THERE IT WILL START TO BEND YOUR TIE RODS AND THROW OUT YOUR ALIGNMENT

Thats a pretty giant notch for a fullsize. The one we did for a truck on 22s was like half that size.

The pics posted by billy were ones that I did for a friend about 2 years back. The truck is running a 265/35/22 has about an inch from the tie rod to the top of the notch. Done so if he wanted to run a 24 with a tire he should be good. All that metal was actually put back in, the previous owner had cut it straight across to clear the bag and the tie rods. Had barely any of the spring pocket left
