pressure switch and relays

what are the advantages/disadvantages for running a relay for your pressure switch.had airride for less than a year and i'm on my third pressure switch.no relay.why does this keep happening?do i really need a relay

The pressure switch isn't made to handle the constant amps the compressor draws. You use the relay to act as a switch between your battery and compressor, and your pressure switch triggers it.. allowing the flow/kicking compressor on. Relays are cheap, and definitely needed. What compressor(s) are you running?

for just that compressor, a 30-40 amp regular bosche style relay is fine.

what's the best way to splice the relay into my wiring?where is the best place to put it?wish i would've put it in when we installed the airride.
