nooooo don't do that. your truck will run rich. the stock mazda carb has sensors and is computer controlled. that's what those vacuum lines are for. it's not a regular ol' carb where you can turn a screw to adjust air/fuel ratio.

if you want to do away with the vacuum lines, get a weber or a holley 5200.

If you remove them you can bust off the little tab and adjust the air/fuel ratio but once you move that screw you are screwed it will never run right again. You can adjust it all you want it will run fine for a little bit then it will start spitting and sputtering and you can adjust and it will run fine for a while and long behold it will fuck up again and again until you replace it.

if you leave the stock carb on and the elec. lines pluged in, you can plug off all on the intake, the carb you can plug off all except one on the front towards the bottom, run one from there to your distributor. all the sensors and pretty much everything in the pass wheel well can be removed, even the elec. plugs can be snipted, keep your fuse box of course. you can even cut all the wires to your carb as long as you splice all of ONE wire from the sensors on the carb together and run one wire from your ign.to that splice so its a keyed power. the other wires from the sensors can be spliced and grounded out to the intake or fire wall. so basicly possitive and negative for the sensors. all said and done it will run alil richer but does add power and throtle response.there is a fact. screw on there to adjust the idle to for when your done, ive ran um like that for years have had no problems. you can also cut the bottom and top plate of you air filter assym. so your filter is open element(dont recomend in rain if you fenderwells are missing tho.) it helps it breath alil easyer to that stock carb. if you get a webber make sure its the (32.30mm model)they run alil better, but its basicly the same as stock carb in power, it just looks cleaner under the hood.

The carb has solenoids in it which adjust the amount of air and fuel going through the carb circuits, it also has a decel solenoid which cuts fuel for a second on deceleration. With those unplugged or the vacuum lines messed up the computer will go into limp home mode which will shut them all off defaulting to a rich condition. This CAN NOT be adjusted with the mixture and idle speed screws, those only affect idle and fast idle settings and will not change anything during off idle driving. It will suck gas build up lots of carbon in the engine and start to plug the cats, then you will be spending lots of money to get it fixed. If you touch anything on the vacuum lines with the stock carb it should be to repair them.
