Today on my way home from Jacksonville my 98 Tahoe started to bog out and it seemed that the engine quit for a second and then was fine it did that a few times. Right when I got into Orlando and got off at my exit the truck died and re started and then quit again and would not start for a min. Got it started again and drove down the street to get home and it died and would not start for 10mins. I have a superchips power programmer and I read the trouble codes and I got code 0118 and that is high temp imput. I do not know what to check. When the engine wolnt start it sounds just like the starter is working and the engine wolnt turn over.

The stalling out sounds like a fuel filter.. and the starter running and th engin not turning sounds like a starter selenoid..As for the code

well now I have an idea on were to start. the code is 0118 and i found it means Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input. wtf causes this and how do I fix it.

try this: keep your door open and turn the ignition but dont start the engine. if you can hear a hiss near the bed then your fuel pump is fine. if you don't hear a hiss you need a new fuel pump. it's also good to replace the fuel filter every 30k miles.

and if it is the pump, a helpful tip is to fill up your gas tank when it reaches 1/4. i learned the hard way when i let it go to empty and filled up with shitty gas that was the only available one.

I turn the key to run all the time for 10seconds before I fire the engine to allow the fuel pump to pump a little so I dont have dry starts. the pump is turning on every time

the temp sensors are normally on eash head in between exhaust ports. one controls the computer & the other controls the gauge on the dash. if there's only one on one of the heads, then the other is on the water neck (thermostat housing). i'd start by changing them first. they were only $13 each for my 454. most of the time the RH one (pass side) is the one that controls the computer, so maybe change that 1 first & if it fixes it, take the other back. the best way to tell, is disconnect the connecter & which ever one makes the dash gauge go nuts, change the other.
good luck man...

thanks corey...the temp gauge is in the fine running range...ill check on changing those sensors tomorrow.

then like i said, disconnect the connectors till you find the one that controls the gauge & change the OTHER one.

It was the temp sensor for the computer and all the connection port had a little rust on it and I cleaned it off and adjusted the prongs so that they connected better and truck is 100%better now.
