alignment question for a bd truck?

ok, i have a 98 toycoma and its bd and has slam bags on it, my question is when i drive it the steering wheel is like 40 degrees to the right from where it should be, stright. is that an alignment problem? cause id liek to fix it soon as possible. is there anything i can do? (i have limited skills cause i have limited tools)or can a regular shop place fix this for me? any help please and thanks. later

duh.
anytime your truck goes up or down slightly your alignment is off.. which is wearing your tires.
set your truck at ride height, and go get the alignment done, and drive your truck at that height, or your tires will be rubbed smooth

so im guessing u didnt do the BD? usually when u do a BD u have to section the steering shaft, so maybe who ever did the BD didnt position the steering wheel straight enough when they re connected the steering shaft. id check that, as well as get an alignment at what ever height u ride around at the most.

If its driving straight with not horrible tire wear why wouldn't you just take the wheel off and put it on straight?

no, i didnt bd the truck. ok, so the steering shaft should be sectioned? what if they didnt do it at all? is that possible? cause i mean its kind of bad and yea, i understand its gonna be out if alignment to a point, duh, but not this bad, 40-50 degree angle. can i ask whre to check to see the re connected steering shaft? i dont want to die casue of a hack job and have it break doing 75 mph. thnaks

WHen you say the steering wheel is misaligned are you refering to the wheels being strait but the steering wheel not. I mean if you wheels are towed in or cambered in 40 degrees you have more problems than just an alignment. If it just the steering wheel not being strait then go get it aligned and tell them to set the toe with the steering wheel strait.

yea, the wheels when i ride seem to be ok, nothing major at all, yea, its just the steering wheel. so yea, i iwll check it out and go to a shop and tell them to set the toe with the steering wheel strait.

You should have enough adjustment in you tie rod ends to straiten the wheel out. If not you might have to adjust it on the shaft. But I think if it's just 40 degrees you should be able to adjust it with the tie rod ends. Have you had the truck aligned since the body drop?

no, i havent. i got it in sept. and since not long after i got it the weather sucked, it sat in my garage and i take it to work from time to time. i have a few things done to it since i had it, but know id like to fix this problem. i guess sat i will look into it a little more. you said i should be able to adjust it with the tie rod ends? is that something i can look into? i should have the right tools. any info on this? thanks

You need an alignment shop to adjust it. I mean you can eye it in but it won't be right. If you plan on keeping the truck for a while you should be able to find a place that will do a lifetime alignment on it. I paid $99 for a lifetime alignment. They've aligned my truck 4 times in the last 4 month's. Everytime I change something I take it and get it aligned for free. Hella of a deal cause a one time alignment there is $69.
