i have a 85 c10 with a 350 and demon 625 carb, the engine is 4 years old but has been driven for less than 2 hours, i had it running great and drove it for five minutes and now it either wont stay running, or kills when i give it gas/put it in gear, any suggestions? im on my last leg here and about to just burn the bastard down

Perhaps carb is shot. Is the fuel pump any good?

everything on the engine is newish, i rebuilt it and got all new parts, should i put an electric fuel pump on the line?

the only things that arent stock are the carb and headers/exhaust

An eletrical fuel pump will push the fuel to the motor just by the turn of a key. A mechanical pump could be the problem. But I only say it "could be". I have seen some people with electric fuel pumps have problems b/c of the fuel filter being very clogged up.

ok im gonna try the electric pump, i just got new fuel filter screens, thanks for the help, ill repost with the results...

I might would see if I could check the mechanical one first before you spend the money. I might be wrong.....I have been known to be wrong in the post.

hey before you go out and buy a electric pump you could check for a vaccum leak , spark plug gapping, distributor cap and rotor for wear also a clogged fuel filter hope that helps you out

I would check for vaccum leaks and carberator adjustment... It sounds like a air/fuel problem.

To test your fuel pump get yourself a 2 litre pop bottle, disconnect the fuel line from your pump to the carb, put it into the bottle, pull your coil wire so the engine turns over but doesn't have spark. Turn the motor over for 15 seconds, the bottle should have about 1 litre of fuel in it (half bottle), if any less, just replace the mechanical pump.
