I just got a flame thrower kit and hooked it all up correctly according to the instructions. the instructions say my engine should sound like it's dying when I push the switch but it doesn't. so I checked if the spark plug was firing when I pushed the button and it was. everyone I have asked about the flamethrowers asks me "Does the engine start to die when you turn it on?" What the hell is going on. someone that acctually has an opperating flamethrower or anyone who really knows what's going on is more than welcome to throw some knowledge my way.

ummmm....does it throw fire? if it throws fire like its suppose to then who cares what the motor sounds like. not being a dick, just asking why does it matter?

I had a flamethrower on my truck, it didn't make my engine wanna die when I hit the button. It shot a flame like 4' long...F*'in sweet! I wouldn't worry about trying to make your truck die when you hit a button unless it's an OFF switch. LOL!

i dont think he is getting his flame so thats why he is asking id check the plugs on the motor that your pulling power from to see if its pulling the power or not that is why it sounds like its dieing because its pulling the spark from a plug or two on the motor and using it to lite the flame in the rear if its on a newer truck the computer might be doing something to correct the no spark thing sorry not to be able to help more but i try good luck

Flame thrower kits use their own relay, coil and spark plug. They don't use anything off the motor, just the exhaust gases. A hole is drilled and a nut welded to the exhaust piping just before the tip. A spark plug is placed in and a spark plug wire goes from that to a coil. A relayed trigger switch activates the spark. He said he checked the spark and it was fine, btw.

i do know this if you are getting four foot flames off exhaust only your truck is running hella rich you need to add fuel hints the cutting of spark from the motor and he said it has spark at the plug in the pipe it needs to cut spark from the motor to add more raw fuel to the exhaust

Makes sense.

Is the Truck Carburated or Fuel Injected?

i had a flame thrower kit on my truck and the shit didnt work , and the motor would almost shut off when ever i hit the button . the coil and the spark plug were hooked up correctly. you need a carbed motor for it to work correctly and if your f/e then you need to run it completle different. im not sure how its supposed to work on a f/e motor casue i took mine off after 2 shops couldnt get it to work.

What exactly does it matter if your car is FI or carburated? Exhaust gas is exhaust gas right? Not really sure why yours is not working, just this whole Carbed vs FI thing is not clicking for me unless your carbed vehicle is just running so much richer than a FI vehicle.
