looks like im gonna hafta carve them out of wax or something

im building a fiberglass dash/centerconsoleand i want to put skulls down the center of the dash starting at the windsheild and going all the way back to the end of the cab on top of the center console

what i did when i made mine was go to hobby lobby and bought a block of that real soft green styrofoam* that they put in flower arrangements...and just carved it out of that and then fiberglassed over it

a friend of mine went to a hoddy shop to my console he got some kind of plaster that they use to make masks in movies, he used that to make a mold then used fiberglass resin to make the actual skull

Look on eBay for misc. skull objects. Get a couple shift knobs, some bie ones, and you can probably find a toy thats in the middle size wise.

ive always wondered what people used for skulls.....but all smooth with airbrushing would still be badass.

you cant fiberglass a mask, it will melt. you need a real skull or a skull that's a hard surface. You tape up the skull really well so the resin will not drip through onto the skull. Or you can spray the skull w/ a polyvinyl spray to create a barrier on it so the resin and mat wont stick to it.
But make sure you dont glass any negative edges or you wont be able to release the matt from the mold.

worked fine for me, i had to use fiberglass mat over my jason mask, just to get it to do what i wanted.

either IM someone who has done some skulls, but i would just stretch the flease, resin it, once it hardens, mount the skulls were you want, then you fiberglass mat over the top, and glass it all together. thats just how i did it, and everyone has there own opinions.
